Life is change. There’s no getting around that. And some of our changes shift and shape and work us over more than others. We name those as transitions – or maybe even metamorphoses. We go into them as caterpillars and emerge as butterflies – if all goes well.
Some of our transitions can shake us so much we wonder who we are now or who are we becoming in this new territory.
And some life transitions remind us of intensity of that last part of active labor when physical contractions come almost on top of each other and we wonder if we will get through this.
Honey bun, you will get through this! You are brilliant and resourceful.
You are creative and whole and you know, deep down, you absolutely know what you want now.
Personal life coaching offers the perspectives and tools for making our way through those world-rocking, mind-blowing, and confidence-shaking grand changes in our lives.
So whether you’re about to start a new business,
Or you’re retiring after a long career,
Whether you’re welcoming a new family member,
Or saying good-bye to someone dear,
Whether you’ve chosen this new path,
Or life has chosen it for you,
Whether you’re eager and ready,
Or freaked and in denial,
Or finally completely fed up with your own reluctance and stuckness,
Whether you’ve crossed many a threshold like this,
Or you feel in completely unknown territory,
Whether you feel like you’re getting in your own way,
Or you’re not sure which way is even yours,
Whether you’re at your fighting weight and up for the challenge,
Or scattered, lost, and completely out of your depth…
Wouldn’t it be helpful to have someone accompany you in this time, someone whose only agenda is YOURS, who will hold your vision through the dark nights and the overwhelming days, who has tools to help you bring out your own deep knowing and wisdom?
Often as women we’re really good at teamwork, at relationship, at tending to the needs of others around us whether at work or at home or with our friends. And lots of time we ride the change life presents us, making the best of what washes up onto our shores. Sometimes, though, we need to be deeply rooted in our own truth even before we launch. We need to chart our own way, in ways that are best for us, through our transitions. That’s when we really need our own charts, our compass, our north star, and our sturdy boats. That’s when we need to captain our own ships, especially our starships as we head for the far off stars!
According to Merriam-Webster, some definitions of transition are: “A passage from one state, stage, subject, or place to another: change; a movement, development, or evolution from one form, stage, or style to another; an abrupt change in energy state or level (as of an atomic nucleus or a molecule) usually accompanied by loss or gain of a single quantum of energy.” And metamorphosis is defined as: “A change of physical form, structure, or substance especially by supernatural means; a striking alteration in appearance, character, or circumstances.”
So if you’re at a threshold, going through a passage, or in the process of a striking alteration in your circumstances, personal life coaching for women in transition is for you!
One huge transition many of my beloved clients are going through now is that of retiring. And what a transformation it can be to shift from the work that has been so central to our lives and our identities to one of so very much spaciousness and freedom!
If you’re planning to retire or have just retired,
If you’re dreaming of retiring and are terrified of it,
If you’re wondering what you’ll do or even who you’ll be without the career and title you know so well,
Or if you’ve been forced over the edge into retirement by situations beyond your control,
Then contact me! I love coaching women moving into and through the completely new territory of life after work, AKA retirement. Retirement coaching, or life coaching for women thinking of retiring, is all about you!
Some of what we can explore in life coaching for women thinking of retiring is:
Going over edges into unfamiliar territory,
Exploring who we are without outer definition and recognition,
Letting go of one trapeze without being able to see the other one to grab onto yet,
Expanding our capacity for joy,
Getting past the disempowerment and “uglification” of the crone,
Recognizing the natural inclination of “nest destroying”,
Reconnecting with hidden or secret selves,
Working with our inner team in this new configuration,
Embracing the polarity of “there’s nothing to do, there’s everything to do right now!”
Facing fears – of aging, of death, of lack, of the complete unknown,
Spending more time with our spouses than every before or facing this unknown alone,
Accepting relationship dynamics with loved ones and how they change when we retire,
Creating brilliant boundaries now that our jobs don’t do that for us,
Understanding the arc of retirement and how our focus and energy shifts over time,
Facing the challenges of letting go of control,
Learning how to be with what we can’t imagine ever being with…
For those of us who have worked outside the home for most of our adult lives, the transition into retirement can be one of the biggest transitions of our lives. Many of us want a guide, want a road map and a compass, want any kind of a plan we can get to help us over this edge and into this very new territory. Personal life coaching for women moving into retirement offers you support in creating the plan that is specifically designed to meet your needs.
