Wow, Cindy! I know you as the wise, strong, accomplished one. Thank you for seeing these qualities in me!

You've asked the game changing question: How do we stay in love and compassion - for ourselves and others - and still strive for what we want? How do we both achieve and get past our critics? Some ideas I've found helpful include staying in a both/and perspective rather than an either/or one, keep brining in even more compassion and understanding that this question is at the heart of our humanity, keep stoking the fires of our inspiration because passion is always a better motivator than obligation. Bringing in humor is one of my favorites as well. We often take ourselves and our situations way more seriously than necessary. How about you? How do you get past your critic, love yourself, all while both falling short and succeeding at achieving your dreams?

Ah, my critic is your critic's twin separated a birth! Only just discovered this post and love how much compassion it called up in me. I think so highly of you - wise, strong and accomplished. If you're not hitting all your high notes, then I don't feel so badly about missing some of mine. And, at the same time, you're not making it okay. I like that, because despite all the good reasons I've fallen short, I still want my dream! Now how do we do that?!

Oh, how I enjoyed this post, Christine! I'm in whole-hearted agreement about your suggestion to find and follow those passions and to connect with the natural world... here in the heart of western NC, Mother Nature has dressed up in some of her most beautiful Fall finery in years. I'm having such fun celebrating my harvests of this year, basking in the crisp cool mornings, and preparing for my Samhain reflections before nature goes into her dreamstate for a while. It's so important for us to take the time to kindle our joys and marvel at nature's amazing gems! Ah, so much to discover and celebrate!

Thank you for teaching me more about these strong and resilient birds of prey in such an entertaining fashion... such marvelous lessons for us all!

No need to steal "thrival", Lynne. I freely offer it.

Yep, I agree with you on the group dreaming of shared vision and holding each other's dreams. That's often what coaches do for their clients - hold their dream through all the challenges to attaining them. So I'm in with your story, too. In relationship coaching we recognize that we "dream each other up", meaning my dream of you influences how I experience you and can shape how you imagine yourself.

And since we enjoy dreaming together, I'm definitely up for the next cool possibility of co-creating. Maybe our next class could be on dreaming.

I've got a garage like that, too, Lynne. And my husband loves to hang on to things so..... An abundance of space would be delightful. Lately I've been imagining lightening our stuff load by 75% or more and moving into a much smaller space. Thanks joining me in this conversation and for being part of the abundance at my buffet!

First, I must say...that I love your word 'thrival'~ so fun :) Can I steal that word????

Okay...now that I got that out of the way ;)...this is such a great topic.
I am gonna play with the idea that maybe we do share dreams. Not in the sleep-time sorta way but in the 'shared vision' sort of way. We hold the dreams for each other and that ups the whole vibrational pulse of the dream...at least, that's how my story goes ;) So, you do group dream in a way....I am holding your vision and you are holding mine and together we are heading to the next cool possibility :)

Love your writing Christine.

This is such a great conversation Christine. Anxiety over having too much possibility! I have personal experience with buffet anxiety...and I feel it every time I walk into my garage. Too much stuff is in there and it overwhelms me! I have told my fella that I would love if we could just get rid of everything in there and have space. An abundance of space....ahhhhhhhh :) Wouldn't that be nice?
Thanks for such a great post! Lots to play with here :)

Hello Kim! Yes, dear dreaming friend. We can stand firmly planted in reality and dream and dream and dream. I so agree -- we need our dreams for fuel and courage and our inner joy. Thank you - for your post and all your dreaming.
